Making Housing Affordable

Adrean Terrace is the largest and oldest of our low-income housing developments for families. Completed in 1941, this community consists of a combination of one, two, and three story brick and concrete buildings. One of the highlighted features of Adrean Terrace is the Community Center (Vega-Martinez Community Center) that offers something for everyone to enjoy, including a variety of activities for the whole family and many senior and youth programs.

Our Duplex Homes were completed in 1982, during the same time as Marino-Ruggiero. They are unique from our other family affordable housing options, in that they were designed to give a more single-family house feel, rather than a large building consisting of many units. These houses for rent have private entrances and backyards for family fun.

As the smallest of our three developments within our East Unit, our F.X. Matt Apartments, constructed of wood frame, is another one of our subsidized housing options for families in an excellent location. It is conveniently located next to Proctor High School and the Mohawk Valley Community College, two beautiful, historic academic campuses in the City of Utica.

Within this development, there are nine, one and two-story apartments for rent. Another exciting feature is a state-of-the-art Play Area onsite for the children to enjoy.

Gillmore Village, another of our family housing options, is located in South Utica and was constructed in 1950. This subsidized housing development offers apartments for rent featuring two-story wood frame and brick construction. This property is adjacent to one of Utica’s Play Areas and houses a computer center available to tenants during normal operating hours.

Nestled in the Brewery District in West Utica, our Hamilton Street location consists of nine studio apartments for rent. These units are an excellent option for individuals, couples, and senior housing.

Formerly the West Utica Boys Club, Hamilton St. has welcomed residents since 2007. In 2010, it became a Federally Subsidized Housing Development. People First is proud to offer Hamilton St. as a safe affordable housing option for our residents.

Location is key with our Humphrey Gardens development in North Utica. This development features more than 100 affordable housing units for families and is located on a main bus route with a shopping center conveniently located right across the street. An added bonus, Humphrey Gardens is also located right across the way from one of the City of Utica’s Pool/Play Areas, offering plenty of fun and enjoyment for everyone in the family.
