- $19.70 - $23.95/hr.
- M-F, 7:30am - 4:30pm, w/additional hours available.
- 40 hours per week plus overtime!

NOTE: A hands-on skills assessment will be administered to all candidates, and a Senior Crew member will evaluate the candidate prior to any offer of employment. The outcome of the assessment will determine starting pay and title.
Job Summary
The individual in this position performs a variety of skilled repair & maintenance tasks across all UMHA buildings, grounds, equipment, structural and mechanical systems, while ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality workmanship. Work is performed under general supervision with the expectation of independent judgment and skillful execution of tasks.
Typical Work Activities (Illustrative Only, varies by title)
- Perform rough and finish carpentry, including framing, drywall installation, flooring, cabinetry, doors, and windows.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
- Repair and refinish woodwork, including sanding and refinishing floors, desks, wood trim, and furniture.
- Inspect properties regularly to assess maintenance needs and address structural or mechanical issues.
- Operate woodworking machinery such as saws, planers, lathes, and other related tools.
- Construct concrete forms, pour and level concrete footers and walkways.
- Perform general building maintenance, including painting, masonry, tiling, roofing, and locksmithing.
- Snow plowing, sanding, and ground maintenance.
- Read utility meters and maintain accurate records of time and materials used.
- Estimate materials and requisition supplies necessary for repairs.
- Follow established safety protocols and maintain tools and equipment in good condition.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance, repair, and/or carpentry techniques.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to follow plans and technical instructions.
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to different tasks.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including lifting, bending, and working in various conditions.
- HVAC experience is a plus!
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Two (2) years of experience in carpentry, general building maintenance, or building trades.
- Equivalent experience and training that demonstrate the ability to perform the job may be considered.
- A valid New York State Driver’s License is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
